Dr Georgette Chan is a female breast and general surgeon who obtained her post-graduate degrees in General Surgery from both the National University of Singapore and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Her principal area of interest is in advanced breast surgical oncology techniques. She did her fellowship with the well known pioneer in breast surgery, Professor Umberto Veronesi, at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy in 2006.

She strives to choose the most suitable surgical procedure that will give each patient the best cancer outcome, as well as the best possible cosmetic result. This is important in restoring the patient’s confidence and body image.

She is well versed in various surgical techniques, in particular, the skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomy and the sentinel lymph node biopsy.

Dr Chan has published widely in the field of breast surgery and oncology. She has done research on cancer prevention at the Cornell Medical Center and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr Chan had previously worked in the Breast Service at the Department of Surgery, Singapore General Hospital for 13 years.
